To be top 3 you have to have made a good film and with John Wick an action packed film. A one man killing machine. That keeps the audience on edge throughout with its exciting story line and endless action it had to be up there. Though a more recent film than some others in the list it didn't disappoint. The director Chad Stahelski did a great job with John Wick and fans hoping the franchise never ends. John Wick generated $43.0 Million from the Box Office. With the film getting a rating of 81% on the audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. 



2. - Die Hard. (1988)


To miss out on top spot in second is Die Hard.Known for being the best Die Hard movie and one of the best action movies released in any franchise. Some say its a masterpiece others say its awesome. With the director John McTiernan doing a great job. He also got the actor Bruce Willis to become known as the tough guy movie star. Die Hard generated $81.0 Million from the Box Office. With the film getting a rating of 94% on the audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.



1. - Mad Max: Fury Road. (2015)


Te get number 1 of the best action film of all time according to Rolling Stones you have to have created a great film and with Mad Max that is what they did. With the director George Miller doing a great job of creating an action packed film. He decided to go back and make the film the old fashioned way with  lots of practical stunts. He wanted to out do all of his work he had done before and many would say he succeeded. The reason for being number 1 is it includes every aspect of an action films with chase scenes, explosions and death defying stunts. Mad Max: Fury Road generated $153.6 Million from the Box Office. With the film getting a rating of 86% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

With the amount of horror films to make it to the top 3 you have to create a film that is is good. And that's exactly what Wes Craven did. With the plot being pure horror based around a town with a number of murders. By keeping the audience on edge the whole time and creating suspense is exactly what Wes Craven did and which is why Scream is in the top 3. Scream generated $103.2 Million from the Box Office. With the film getting a rating of 79% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.



2. - Alien. (1979)


Coming second is never easy especially with all the other horror movies you have to compete with. But Alien managed to beat them to the second spot its never easy to be amongst the best but Ridley Scott managed to do that. Known as one of the best creations in cinema history. Though wherever you decide to watch this film you will definitely end up screaming. Alien generated $81.1 Million from the Box Office. With the film getting a rating of 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.



1. - The Shining. (1980)


To get first on the best of all time horror movies according to Empire you have to create a scary film but it also has t be good and that's exactly what Stanley Kubrick did. Though it didn't get the recognition it deserved when released and even the director Stanley Kubrick was nominated for the 'worst director' award. But never the less The Shining is now described as a. 'Masterpiece with the shimmering descent into to madness a true horror.' The Shining generated $47 Million from the Box Office. With the film getting a rating of 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
